Just wondering where Mr. Decoteau has been lately? I remember his wise words that Levi Haugen WOULD NOT BE MOVING UP TO 130, NO WAY NO HOW!! Just wondering if he would like to share any of his other wise wisdom to the crowd?

I have been here all along, and even helped make the decision that Levi move up to 130. As a lot of people know, I am very optimistic and looked at the big picture, but as we all know, it was very early in the season when I made that prediction, and as most coaches do, they like to feel out the year and then decide where to move people around. Yes I made a mistake and apologize for it. Fordville, or whoever you are, would you like anymore wise words of wisdom? I have been around this sport a long time, know most of the coaches quite well, know most of the kids quite well and am looking forward to a very exciting state tournament.
Good Luck at state coaches and wrestlers, Justin DeCoteau decota76@hotmail.com
p.s..Levi has the number 1 seed at 130 in regionals!

What happened to your wrestler, Chase Lee that was in the 130# weight class? He looked awesome at the Carrington tournament! Did he get the chance to move up?

I also remember the "promise" that he (Decoteau) had made about Minot Ryans lineup and Levi haugen not going up. He made it very emphaticaly known that that would NOT happen. And it was not "early in the season", it was after xmas! What happened to the kid that wrestled most of the year at 130 for Minot Ryan? Did he not pay his dues? Looks to me as they are running from the #3 seed at 125 to get the #1 seed at 130!

To everyone: I shouldn't have to keep defending myself, for a decision that was made. I made a prediction, and thats all it was, a prediciton. Tell me that none of you have ever made a mistake about a prediction before. Yes, it was made very emphatically, but hey, thats just the way I am. Levi moved up, and had to challenge off for the spot at 130, it was not given to him. Chase Lee is a very good wrestler and has shown that he is a very dedicated teammate as well, and did not choose to challenge up, let us remember that these two young men are both only sophmores and will be around for a couple more years to come!
Good Luck wrestlers and coaches! Justin DeCoteau decota76@hotmail.com
p.s...Nathen Schweitzer the new 125lber, also received the #1seed at regionals!

I am kinda surprised to see him at 130 for state. there are quite a few guys that levi hasn't wrestled yet that are pretty good. Ex. tom sauby Carrington, Chris Chase C-NS, Preston leier Linton. He could be in for a surprise come state.

Chase Lee,
Transfer to MINOT HIGH next year!! They wouldnt have you wrestle all year long only to dog you at the finish line.

Cut him some slack, WFfan! I'm sure as a coach it's never an easy decision to do the juggling around that is required from a wrestling coach. Looks like both the 125# and 130# weight classes will be pretty stacked up at State. It won't be a cakewalk for anyone! Good Luck to all.

I am cutting slack to the only person who deserves it here, and that is the kid (Chase Lee)! For a coach to "Juggle" in a dual for better matchups is one thing, but to "juggle" a kid out of the state tournament is a completely different thing. This is just my opinion! I am in no way talking poorly about any of the kids involved. I feel they are very good wrestlers. Nor am I talking bad about the coaches involved, they have done a great job getting MR to the top. I just dont agree on how the 130lber is being tossed to the side. Just my opinion! Hope all works out for all involved.
Good luck at State

I say the coach has every right in the world to juggle his lineup at the end of the season. I don't believe any coach would jeopardize his team's chances of winning for the sake of one individual. If Bischoff feels this makes his team stronger in the individual tournament, then it is his right to allow the challenge of Haugen to compete at 130#. Yeah, it's OK to feel sorry for Chase Lee, but that's how it works in the real world. I, too, have been involved in these decisions. They are not always going to be popular, but coaching is not a popularity contest. Coaching is putting the best possible lineup out on the mat come tournament time. If Haugen moving to 130# backfires against Minot Ryan, then so be it. As for Coach Bischoff, don't lose sleep over this. I'm sure your motivation was not based on "screwing over" Chase Lee, but rather making the Lions more of a contender at the state tournament.
This situation should also serve as a reminder to all wrestlers in the future. If the guy in the weight class below you is better than you are, then you should (if you are weight permitted to do so!!!!) certify at that weight and make yourself available at the end of the season to compete at that spot if the lighter AND better wrestler moves up.

EJ, think about what you are saying. Haugen is not moving up to better his team's chances in the individual tournament, he is moving up because he feels he cannot win at 125...period. This is not a team move. Also, it may be easy to say to the kid to certify a weight below your anticipated weight, but remember, he cannot all of a sudden go back down a weight at regionals when he has been wrestling above that all year. You can only wrestle up so many times before your lighter certification is void. This can happen in MN but not in North Dakota.

AS a matter of fact, Mr. Fordville, Levi in fact did move up to 130 to help his teams chances in the individual tournament. We aren't sure that he will even make the finals at 130 either. Why must you persist on degrading a good kid and a great wrestler? Are you even from North Dakota?

Let me get this striaght? You think that Levi won't make the finals at 125, cause there are two state champs already there, Haase and Kerr? So then you are saying that he will make the finals at 130, when there are already two state champs there as well, Henderson and Chase. So in all retrospect, you say that Hasee and Kerr are better than Henderson and Chase? I don't know fordville, these are all tough wrestlers Levi included! What about all of the other tough wrestlers that are already at 130, like Leier,Sauby, the oakes kid(who levi beat in OT), peterson, and morey? So you think that 125 is a much weaker weight class than 130? Oohhh, so thats it, thats why the coach moved Levi up to 130, to wrestle in a much easier weight class. Well why don't you enlighten us all tell us where the easy weight classes are, so we can move all of our kids around and forget about the already tough kids that are already there. Fordville, you had better get some facts straight before you start posting on this website and leave Justin alone, all he did was make a prediction, thats all, just a prediction, just like the farmers almanac!
