First round match up that got my eye....Mueller from Hillsboro against number 2 seed Kittleson from Velva--why was the Hillsboro kid drawn in and not seeded with that kind of a record?

One question with the state seedings for class A. Why does Kyle Mahlum get the last seed? I know he hasn't wrestled much this year but does his career mean nothing at this point. Bad shoulder or not he is one of the top four wrestlers at this weight. Also he wrestled Kok close at regionals until the third when he was tossed but before that it was only 2-0.

The thing that i found even more interesting than mueller not getting seeded is that Keller from Harvey DID get seeded and he took third in the region, Mueller won the region!

The criteria used in seeding Class B has to be changed. It seems if you have a bad match early on in the year you can never recover from it. More importance needs to be placed on how you are wrestling at the end of the year. Not to sound to biased but look at 130 Class B. NHS's Dewald has beaten Hyatt twice and Leier once and he won the region yet he wrestles the #1 seed. More emphasis has to placed on Region champions. He was penalized by losing to a kid the second match of the year by one point. Why do Napoleon, Carrington, and Lisbon go to the Bismarck Rotary. It sure as hell isnt to win it. I'm sure with as young of a team that Lisbon has it could went somewhere else but their coaches did the right thing in getting them experience. Dewald is not the only kid in state the probably got screwed but it is not right to not factor in how some kids are wrestling at the end of the year.

Whether or not Kyle had a close match with Kok doesnt matter, alot of wrestlers have had closes matches with Kok Neshiem, Englehardt, Batesole, Badillo have all gave Kok a run for his money, he should have wrestled more matches instead of defaulting so he could have hada better seed or made his comeback earlier

To Mechanism:
Hillsboro does wrestle in other tournaments besides State and Regionals. This year they wrestled in tournaments at Carrington, West Fargo, Lisbon, and Casselton. They also hosted their own dual tournament in Hillsboro. Next year they plan on attending the tournament at New Salem. What other tournaments do you think that they should attend? Jared Mueller really got shafted in the seedings. He won Region at 171# and the Harvey kid placed third...yet the Harvey kid got seeded and Jared didn't...doesn't seem right to me.

I heard Beach and Watford City are protesting there seeds at state by instead competing in the Montana State Tournament. Half of them got number one seeds and there coaches feel they have a better chance in Montana since they have wrestled them more.

Since seedings have been made, I feel this years seedings are tilted in many weight classes/I don't want to make too much of it but there are some obvious blunders in both class A & B, but much more so in class B/average kids are getting seeds over some pretty studly kids like Mueller from Hillsboro/and many obvious others--etc but all I can say is wrestle tough and show you deserved better by being a placer...whinning can only hurt you at this point//////work hard and have fun!

A lot of you are complaining about some seeds. As far as that Mueller is conerned, the reason he dr4opped so far in the seedings is because he had a bad Lisbon tournament. He ended up not even placing. Porter from Lamoure beat him and Porter is an 8th seed, And that Mueller hasn't beaten anybodyabove hm except keller but i think they split, and keller beat Porter from what i saw. But since he lost to some kids that weren't even seeeded, it comes down to that Hillsboro and all those teams stay in the NE and don't wrestle anybody, so How are they supposed to be compared to the rest of the state when they go NOWHERE!! At least that keller goes out and wrestlers the top seeds so they can compare. I think the coaches do the best job they can when they go to state.you take four coaches, one from each region, and have to pick 112 seedable kids out of 224 in one day. I'm sure they do the best job that they possibly can, because all 4 coaches look at everyone in all the regions to find the top eight seeds, after that , just luck of the draw as Dewald from NApoleon found out. One that I think is overated is that AMB from Mayport?? He lost to mehlhoff, who got drawn in!!! The only thing Amb has is that he beat the velva kid from what i have seen. They stay in the corner with Hillsboro, Larimore, and Cavalier. I bet that Robles at 125 chokes just like last year when he was a number 3 seed and got 7th. So far Hase and haugen both pinned him in the second period, so i see the kids that went all three with haugen and Hase to come out and beat him. I guess i never heard about Watford or beach going to Montana, but that would make them look pretty bad if they did. But the way I figure is that the top eight are going to come out no matter what they are seeded. Not everyone can make the finals! good luck to all and may the top eight prevail!!!

Watford city has had many good teams for years/yes they have recently avoided the east west/they must somehow feel that they have been over exposed and by hiding they may surprise someone at the state? Just a theory but we will see how things come out/I want all programs to do well its the best thing for wrestling//All teams have their ups & downs/this is not one of their best teams as we all know!
