Does Bismarck have more than one high school? It appears the Bismarck Tribune can only write about BHS. What a shame it is that the sports writers don't know the stats well enough to recognize what state records are being broken by athletes in the surrounding schools.

Sacman What other records are being broken? It would be nice if some one would keep track or post these for others to enjoy

Hey that happens everywhere. According to the Fargo papers you would swear the only wrestler in West Fargo is Sebelius. I would be led to believe all the other WF wrestlers stink. Oh well, maybe they do. The Fargo Forum printed a full page article on Sebelius, I guess he is on track to capture the ND career win record.

I can't begin to tell you how much personal pleasure I took in watching BHS pound sand through West Fargo's line-up. If Kyle Mahlum would have wrestled with two healthy shoulders instead of one and a piece of limp meat for another it would have even been a bigger score. I think the Packers actually thought they could beat BHS. Is there any team in the state that is more ready to wrestle than those guys? Have you seen their schedule? We have Class A schools wrestling Class B schools in ND and they even wonder why they don't get a sniff? As far as the Fargo Forum is concerned the big story isn't Sebelius. Hey....he is a good kid and a great wrestler...no doubt about it. The story is that the east is still dominated by the west. End of story!

;D Yes I agree the the Bismarck Tribune does not cover any other schools besides the ones Bismarck. What can the wrestling community do to get this resolved and more publicity for WRESTLING.

Something is being done about this issue, you may not realize it but THIS WEBSITE is a great solution to the problem we have as far as ND wrestling coverage in the newpapers, w/o this website i wouldn't have a clue that Joey Irmen beat Bastings... however being i get the GF herald i would have heard all about the results had the match gone the other way!

No paper is worse than the Fargo Forum. Your lucky if they give a team score. I heard they had a disagreement with Bucky once and since then, they don't cover much on wrestling. The Minot paper does a nice job covering their territory. Jamestown isn't too bad. I'm glad I found this forum to see how all the wrestlers and teams are doing. Good luck to all of you.

The Form by far is the worst newspaper in the State. They are suppose to cover The EDC and not just Fargo or Sebelius. The most underrated wrestler in the State last year was Olson from Jamestown and he never got a sniff in any newspaper.

I think in order to get more coverage and better coverage is we need to get people to attend tournaments and duals like they did years ago. I remember when BHS had the streak and Mandan High School had talked big time that they were going to bury the Demons, in fact, there was a coffin with RIP Demons on the coffin as you walked into the Mandan High School Gym. It's that kind of hype we need to start again at these duals. I've attended duals the last few years and the attendance is ridiculous. We need radio ads, TV ads, maybe a big ad in our beloved Bismarck Tribune. Don't know who would fund that exactly but that's my thoughts.

There are alot of sports, schools, and athletes that do not get fair coverage by newspapers or any other form of media for that matter. Unless it is football, basketball, or baseball... high school or Pro.... forget it. I cancelled my subscription to the Bismarck Tribune and when I did so I called and told them why... unfair coverage of certain sports and certain schools. I told the Trib that their paper was only good for potty training a dog. I think that if enough people did exactly that... cancelled and telling them why they are doing so... the message would get through to them. You can pack all the gyms you want... and it won't do any good. Hit them right where it counts... their pocketbook... through their subscribers!

I think that you will find the same complaints with all newspapers. It doesn't matter, whether you are in Bismarck, Fargo, Minot, etc.
Either the coaches or AD's at the school level need to get the information to the papers.
This is a great site. Bit it too is only as good as the information provided. Make sure someone is posting the results from the duals as well as the tourneys.

This Website is just a start, we need all coaches to submit info to the newspapers and here so that we can recognize our proud sport and its participants. Get on your coaches.....fans, parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts. I really mean it. be a pest. and mean it. If they don't do it they are doing an injustice to the sport. Remember your kids DESIRE it.

I agree with "Icallum". We need to cancel our subsriptions to the Tribune and let them know why. I did the same as he did. Cancelled and wrote a letter telling them why. There is no reason to subscribe to a paper who cannot even list results from area communities. They don't want our business very bad. I received a phone call from the editor of the Tribune and it was nice to tell him this personally. They are the reporters and if they don't have the energy to obtain scores then I don't have the energy to write them out a check.
