This may sound like a very naive question, but just when can the college recruit's or coaches contact a wrestler regarding signing a high school kid? We have gotten at least a hundred letters from coaches and college's and places like the naval academy but I am not sure what is correct etiquette. After watching in the news about the young basketball player who almost lost his eligibility because of improper recruiting violations, you have to watch yourself.

luv2pin, im not sure on what the correct time on recruiting a wrestler is but i know of a few kids that have signed letters of intent before their final season even started. as far as receiving letters from colleges for a specific sport on of my fellow wrestlers was getting letters last year during spring baseball season so im not sure on what the correct date is.

I don't know if there's a limit to when you can contact them. The basketball player lost his eligibility because he gained items of monetary value based upon his abilities, without paying anything for them. Basically, that makes you a pro instead of an amateur, and so you can't compete in amateur sports.
