I want to know what everyone is thinking about the tournament teams. I know Harding County is the team in the duals to beat but dont be surprised if that doesnt happen.

You have to remember that the dual ratings are very subjective as several of these teams never see each other before State. ( especially Harding County vs east river teams) My opinion is that any of the top 5 or so rated teams could win the state duals. The key factors being a full lineup, and lack of injuries between now and then.

As for the best in the state in class B, it looks like a 5 team race for the individual tourney between EPJ, Harding Co., Bon Homme, Kimball, and Parkston. Parkston and Harding Co. should both have the most qualifiers out of this group while EPJ, BH, and Kimball will have more kids advancing to the semi's and beyond. However, the season is only half over and a lot can happen between now and March 1st. In the dual tournament both Harding County and Stanley County are solid followed by EPJ, BH, and Parkston. A good dual team is Wagner if they can qualify.

I just watched one of the best duals of the year. Sturgis vs harding co. Going into the final match the score was 28 to 27. Schlect got the pin to keep sturgis's dual streak alive with 52 consecutive wins. It was awesome even though I was pulling for the upset.

It's been a couple of weeks since this topic was talked about. Parkston has won a couple of tough tournaments lately. Are they a contender for the dual team title, or more likely show better in the individual tournament ? Is this the year when the B has two different teams winning the dual & individual tournaments ? If so, could this perhaps bring more interest (spectators) to the dual tournament ?

wrestlersdad- yea parkston is tougher than nails, and in my mind the obvious favorites coming into the individual tourney. If their 103, 125, and HWT step it up at state, they could run away with it.
for the duals it's either parkston, bon homme, wagner, HC, or us... depending on the seeds and who wins the coin tosses!

Parkston has got to be the favorite for the individual tourney. I don't think they have lost a tourney yet this year, and they have been in some tough ones. I don't know about their dual record??

Another team you guys are all forgetting is Gregory. They may not have the numbers to do great at the regular season tourneys but if you remember in 93 when Marion/Freeman won it with only 7 guys (all Placers). This year Gregory reminds me alot of that MF team. And yes Harding Co. does have a lot more than just Bickerdyke
and Padden. They are solid from 103-275. But Im just not sure if they're younger guys can handle the pressure of the state tourney. only time will tell. should be a great one.
