Here are the individual results from the AAU Middle School National Duals in Indianola, Iowa. This is to add on to the already posted information that Coach Burwick posted earlier.
There were 9 Team North Dakota wrestlers that medaled after two days of competition. Medals were given as followed: 0 losses = gold medal, 1 loss = silver, and 2 losses = bronze. With that said, here are the following wrestlers and the medals they received.
100 lbs. - Russell Vetter (Harvey) 7-1, silver medalist 105 lbs. - John Koistinen (Rolla) 6-2, bronze medalist 115 lbs. - John Bastings (G Forks) 6-2, bronze medalist 120 lbs. - Jon Baca (Carrington) 6-2, bronze medalist 140 lbs. - Brock Lemer (Harvey) 7-2, bronze medalist 145 lbs. - Wade Weppler (Velva) 6-1, silver medalist 152 lbs. - Heath Roberts (Velva) 6-2, bronze medalist 171 lbs. - Nik Pates (Fargo) 7-1, silver medalist 171 lbs. - Lee Vandall (Rolla) 6-2, bronze medalist
Among the teams that we had dualed against were several Iowa teams, Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey, Nebraska, South Dakota, AAU All-Stars, Illinois and Lake Erie. The 46 wrestlers that made up both North Dakota teams received some great experience and competition. There was an additional list of ND wrestlers that missed medaling by one loss.
I want to agree with the previous message that Coach Burwick posted in saying Thank You for the opportunity to represent Team North Dakota. I agree that it was a great opportunity for these wrestlers, but it was also a valuable experience for myself as a coach!! I am thankful for the opportunity!
