I voted for dickinson, but you should really add Century to the poll, I believe they will have somewhat of an impact this year, and should also be included in the poll for state like bismarck, dickinson and beulah. I said this because I believ that Century is far better than Jamestown

I agree with you that Dickinson has a group of outstanding wrestlers but I will have to disagree with you on who will win State. I think it will be West Fargo or Bismarck (d**n
, hate to say it) and then Dickinson. What I dont understand is in this poll only 2 people picked Bismarck, same number of votes as Beulah. I think they will be in there at the end right with WF & Dic not Beu.
Just my opinion & good luck to ALLLL wrestlers

Well I guess being from WF you would pick WF or Bismarck, apparently you are disregarding the dual at GF where Dickinson beat WF. I know, I know....not every one was there...for EITHER team! I guess we'll all just have to wait and see!

I think Dickinson will take the title and I can't believe the lack of votes for Bismarck, look how they did against West Fargo at the Multiple, come on. Tonights dual between Dickinson and Bismarck I think will be what could be a state champion preview. Also I thought that teams had to qualify for the State dual team championship tourney, so Century yeah, not going to happen which is too bad because they have a lot of talented kids. Plus depending on the Beulah dual against Mandan tonight they could be out of it too.

Are we discussing duel state, or which team will win the Team title from the individual tournament? Either way, I see Dickinson, Bismarck, and WF at the top. The reason I ask is that a lot of people are talking about "look at this duel, look at that duel." Instead, you should look at how the teams placed at tournaments. Different teams excel in each format. Also, if it's duels FN shouldn't be in the poll, since they didn't make it as a team. I doubt they'll take the Individual tournament either, but I think they'll make some noise and surprise a few good wrestlers.

Krusedog If you are refering to the Dickinson vs. Bismarck dual, there is alot of reason to talk this particular dual up. Imagine #1 vs. #3 in the state, both undefeated, and the #1 seed is on the line. I would say 2000 fans in the stands, all screaming for each others teams. The visiting team wins 3 out of the first 4, the home teams wins the next 6 out of 7, then after Dickinson takes a 17 point lead into the last 3 weights, and Bismarck wins with 3 pins. This my friends is the reason schools will fill their gyms for wrestling matches and get our numbers up where they were before when alot of teams were filling 3 teams. This year I feel the title could be up for grabs, both the team and the individual. Team title should go thru either: Bismarck, Dickinson, or West Fargo. The only team that could sneak up on any of these teams will be Minot. Individual will be a chess match. First round byes vs. first round matches could decide the outcome of the tournament. And also you have to look at the depth of the teams when it comes down to wrestleback rounds. Having 3-4 kids that could make or win the finals is great, but you have to have the kids that can win in the wrestleback rounds and pick up the points and place 3-4 in the 3rd - 4th placers. This I feel will be a tournament to remember because of the evenly matched kids and depth of some teams. Everyone keep up the good work and see you at state. ;D

luv2pin,
I think you proved my point. Yes, I agree that the duels mentioned above by people were important, but they tell you little about the team which will take the individual tourney. It will depend on the seeding, and you never know where the upsets will come, though they are almost guaranteed.
Good luck to all of the wrestlers in the individual tournament, and to all of those teams which earned their way to the duals.

My vote goes to Dickinson High School. Everyone on that team has obviously worked extremely hard to be where they are today. They are a solid team this year so i think everyone should watch out.

I do have to agree that Dickinson has a great team this year. They also have a very young team. I believe they have 9 returning wrestlers for next year. So they should be very solid for a couple years coming up. Bismarck High also has 9 coming back in 03-04. This should give the fans exciting years to come.

I'll take BHS for team champions and DHS for tourney champs. Dickinson I think has a the best chance to gain tourny points because they are sending 14 guys, right!

Krusedog says: "...I agree that the duels mentioned above by people were important, but they tell you little about the team which will take the individual tourney." I disagree with you. How can you say the duals tell you little about the individual tourney! For example Bismarck has won all 3 Dual Tiltles and has won 2 of the 3 Individual Titles, taking 2nd place to Century one year (which Century was ranked 2nd at the beginning of the year and failed to make the duals because of some training violations). The top teams in the Individual are almost the same teams as the Dual Teams just switch one or two around!

Skunkpee I have to agree with you that sending 14 (full team) to the individual state tournament is 1 big advantage. Not only does it give a team a chance to score big points, it also keeps the team a team. All the kids will be together and on the same page with the same goal in mind. Here is Class A qualified wrestlers summary: Dickinson - 14 Fargo South - 12 West Fargo - 11 Jamestown - 11 Fargo North - 10 Williston - 10 Minot - 10 Mandan - 10 Bismarck High - 10 GF Central - 9 Wahpeton - 9 Bismarck Century - 9 Beulah - 9 Devils Lake - 8 GF Red River - 7 Valley City - 7 Belcourt - 6 St Marys - 6 There have been years that we have only placed 7 or 8 wrestlers & still won the individual tournament, so this still leaves around 14 teams that could still win this year. Good Luck

All Respondents:
I think that Bismarck's top 5 young men will have to contribute greatly in order to win the Individual Tournament - but this will not be enough by itself to win the Title. I firmly beleive that the Individual Tournament Title will be won or lost in the wrestle-backs. All 10 cylinders have to fire in order for this engine to run properly.
The Team Dual will be another story. Bismarck goes into the State Dual competition deeply challenged by Dickinson. Enter in Bismarck's clever and smart Coaching Staff together with some excellent young men on the JV team and I think you will have a winner.
