For those of you that may not know it, much more than just a wrestling record goes into the voting for Mr. Wrestler. The coaches vote on many things including the wrestlers stats, his GPA, and his extracurricular activities.

Wrestlingfan Do you know if the only ones that vote are the coaches??? I think that career stats have played a large part in the voting process, in the past couple years.

I have to agree with luv2pin on that. The last few years it's been kinda questionable on the winners. Sometimes there is just too many good wrestlers to only chose one that sticks out from the rest. I know I wouldn't want to have to choose them.

I agree with you Buzzsaw that there are a great number of really good wrestlers ou there and the voting would be tough. I don't however always agree on finishing with a tie, with the exception of this year. I thought that both Michaelson and Mellmer were well deserving and it would be impossible to give reasons to deny it to one. But for the most part, I feel that the award should be limited to a single individual. It really is meant to show the one person who personifies what the sport of wrestling is about and what the younger kids should strive to become(or surpass).

I heard that Shane Hase, Class B Mr. Wrestler this year has a 4.0 gpa, is an Eagle Scout, and more-or-less runs the youth wrestling program in Harvey. Is that true?
