I spoke with Derek about this situation during the West Region tournament and it seems like the weight cutting got to Mr. Desjarlais. This is too bad because I thought he was one of the top three 119 pounders in the state. Wrestling is not an easy sport the way it is, compound that with the mental strain of trying to make a lower weight and sometimes that takes over. Let's hope that he comes back next year.

Thank you for the information. - Mr. Desjarlais if you are out there - come back. Train this summer so that you do not have to cut weight next year - Build on what I think is a good start in wrestling. Don't give up because you are a good wrestler and we need people like you.

I agree Desjarlais is a good wrestler, and you hate to see good wrestlers quit. But, if cutting weight was a problem for him why didn't he wrestle off for another weight class, like 125 or 130?
