Eric Sabot is a good candidate, but I would like to see more names both A and B. So we can set up poll and let people in the wrestling community make their pick.

I appreciate your opinion about the class of competition for both of these wrestlers but I am not asking you to make the decision for Mr. Wrestler. If Sabot doesn't have any competition, does that mean that he is that much better than everyone else. I am looking for candidates for Mr. Wrestler for both A and B, and let the wrestling community to express their opinion in a poll. thanks for submitting Elliiot Piper.

In the Class B Each region picks an individual to represent their region.. I will have to do some research to find out who the Candidates are..
My guess:
Region 1 Jessie Labor-Napoleon Region 2 Mayo- Hillsboro or Shane Haas- Harvey Region 3 David Folden Rugby? Region 4 Brandon Henderson, Hettinger or Seth Murphy- Killdeer
Class A: West: Elliot Piper, Eric Sabot East: Nick Olsen, Jamestown Charlie Senne, Valley City
I will try to do some research and update this.

Mr. Wrestler Award.....Great concept, but need revision as it doesn't take into consideration the finals. Most of the time we see the candidates in the finals and this is (I think) a huge part of there career. The voting takes place before the finals. I think they should vote immediately after, as it would be a better reflection of the career of the wrestler. Case in point would be back about hmmmm 1998??? Mueller from Hillsboro wins it.....get's beat in the finals. This hasn't occurred a bunch, but it has occurred. I realize one match isn't your carreer, but going head to head against other candidates that one match might sway the vote to someone else. So what's the editor's thoughts on this??

t.a., I agree with you if two Mr. Wrestler finalists are competing against each other. The final match should come into play. But if a wrestler with an excellent high school career loses his last match and has proven himself over the years, he should still win it even tho he lost his last match. Maybe the people that vote should consider this if two finalists meet.

Eric Sabot - hands down - dominates!!! Eric Sabot has had one loss in the last three years to Math Bitz in overtime. (last years Mr. Wrestler) He is also the only undefeated senior in North Dakota! How can anyone deny Mr. Eric Sabot the Mr. Wrestler Award of 2002?

I know you by your real name and I'm disappointed by your posts. Why would you try to degrade the effort that Eric has put into the sport of wrestling by saying that he has no competition?

L.Sabot I did not degrade the effort that Eric has put in the sport of wrestling. I have always told you of the type of wrestler that Eric is. I told you in Mandan at the Lions Tourney how dominating and how good Eric is. In my post I said that I thought Elliot had a better class of wrestlers. You sure do not have to prove to me the competion of wrestlers that Eric has beaten. My son has wrestled for 11 years now & I have watched Eric grow up and dominate almost everyone he has faced. Lance you and I have seen alot and shared alot, you know my intentions have always been in the right direction. If I was voting, Eric would recieve my vote, but I was only giving you my opinion on the competion this year. I went as far as sending you a picture this year from the Chistmas T. of the Champions with Eric in the picture. If you need further discussion, just ask, I am at every match. sincerely Keith

Hey guys great replies.... Maybe the state tournament should also have a most valuable wrestler... The wrestler that really wrestled well at the state wrestling tournament.... Just to give that person chance to win a prestigeous award that is not decided on by a total career... Some wrestlers do have harder weight classes then others but how are we to judge that... we can easier judge one tournament compared to careers....
This award has been won before the state had even started in quite a few years... I agree with an improvement of the award...
Maybe some people can make some suggestions here and we can make a collaborative effert to make some changes..

The Mr. Wrestler award is obviously between sabot and piper. Yet i feel piper should win because of the factors of his wrestling career compared to sabot's. both of these boys wrestled varsity as 8th graders. sabot wrestled 103, and that is not uncommon to be a younger age at 103. the little guys are usually younger. piper wrestled 152 as an 8th grader, which is rare for someone that young, and one some big matches. then sabot wrestled 112 the next year, still a smaller weight, and he did take 2nd. piper wrestled 160, and took third as a 9th grader, he beat many older wrestlers and that 3rd place is quite phenomenal. then they both one 2 state titles, and sabot had a better record, but not by much. Piper has 2 christmas tourney titles, and sabot only has one, and though he only went once, no one will ever know if he would have one it twice. well overall both these wrestlers are extremely talented, and they both deserve it, i just feel that piper has overcame larger obstacles, and therefore deserves it.
