I will not go to another state youth tournament in Brookings. The facility is way too small. They throw a fit about bringing in any outside food or drink, then they completely run out of food of any kind in the concession stand, and aren't smart enough to go to a grocery store and buy more. There aren't nearly enough motels in Brookings, so many people stayed in motels in Watertown or Sioux Falls. You get to watch Bob Johnson in action. If you are from western SD - go to the Rocky Mountain Nationals in Denver the prior weekend -it's closer !!!

I agree Brookings is a TERRIBLE place for kids state tourney. It's to small for a tourney that big!

And whats with the 16 man bracket with one bye. fill the bracket with 16 kids, qualify one extra kid from a designated region and rotate the region each year. More kids get to participate, more interest, more families at the big show and more revenue.

I think it should only be held in Sioux Falls and Rapid City - where there is plenty of room in the arenas and motels for everyone.
I also think there should be atleast a 150 and 200 lb bracket - some 150-170 lb kid is going to get hurt wrestling kids in the 200 lb range - besides, where is the fairness in that?
