I may not have won a state championship when I wrestled, but I sure wouldn't give up what I got out of the sport of wrestling. I have made alot of friends and have had alot of friendship because of the sport. I am proud that I placed four years in a row and never placed lower than 4th. I never complained about my tough matches. I knew what kind of wrestlers that where out in my weight class. Winning a state championship is something special, but I don't regret anything I ever did in wrestling. I don't care much about what you guys say about me or even think about me. I'm proud of what I have accomplished in my career. I'm proud to say that I was one of the top 4 wrestlers in my weight class that year. I asked you guys who where some of the best throwers you guys have watched. I made a remark that I thought that I was a pretty good thrower when I wrestled and you guys jump all over it like i was bragging. that was not my intention. Some of you guys ask about why I don't have any records, does a record of anytype make a person a better wrestler? Do I need to have state records? School records? You'll just have to go to Hettinger High School and talk to Randy Burwick if you want to find about how terrible I was and how I never won a state championship. I tell you what, I might have never won a state title, but I always was proud to be a part of such a elite group of wrestlers in my weight class.
Thanks to all that understand, good luck to all that don't.
Mike Honeyman
P.S. For the person who wants to know why I'm not wrestling in college now, personal reasons took me out of wrestling in college for now. An education and family are my first priority for now, wrestling will come later.

Yes, alot of them are but it has to make you chuckle, I think the wrestlers of our time are just as good if not better then those of today. Are you getting excited for Napoleon taking second in the dual tourney behind Carrington. I'll bet you 1 cold Miller Lite.

Freeman you would have a better chance on powerball I think. I'll see your LITE raise you a coors light and bone will take a bud light.

Sabot was a good greco wrestler. Welder was good also. Gilliss was a Cadet World Greco Silver Medalist and a Junior world greco Bronze Medalist

Coach, just because Brandon Lemer won "2 triple crown titles" he doesn't become a good Greco wrestler. He never wrestled in the Junior Nationals and didn't even show up for camp because he was scared of Zach Thumb.

brandon lemer coulda taken out thumb, if i remember right thumb was about the biggest baby i have ever seen, defaulting out a state championship match because he was behind in a match that he could of easily finished.

Well, I blieve that there are many great throwers in the state. But, one of the better young throwers I would have to say is John Basting. He can belly to back someone out of nowhere. For only being a Freshman at 130 he can hold his own pretty good. Next year I would predict he wins 135 at state with his growing skills.

I, personally would not accuse Brandon Lemer of dodging anyone. To see him and Thumb wrestle would have been great, but it didn't happen, so unless Lemer told you personally "I am afraid of Zac Thumb", I wouldnt accuse him of that. As for Buzzsaw, you're doing the right thing, man. You kept your priorities straight and put family first, and to me, that makes nobody a quitter.

That is correct...Zach Thumb, National Champion. And he won his matches by conditioning. And when Zach defaulted in the finals it was because of a severe elbow dislocation that he had suffered a week before the region. He didn't even wrestle a match at regionals, just got a bye and defaulted for sixth. I laugh to see anyone question the toughness of Zach Thumb, you must not know him.
