In an attempt to predict what would happen with A vs. B state champions duel, here goes an HONEST attempt to see how it would go, just my opinion...I'm sure you will give me yours as well. I think some of the class B kids would frustrate some of the A kids on top...would probably ride them tougher than they have seen all year with other class A kids.
103 Melmer beats Bateman in a fairly close match 5-2 112 Sailer handles Lennick fairly easily 8-3 119 Johnsrud defeats Glasser in OT 5-3 125 Lang defeats Kerr 10-4 130 Melmer defeats Haugen 7-5 135 Sebeleis defeats Sinner 3-2 140 Basting defeats Drolc 12-0 145 Irmen defeats Mahlum 7-1 152 White defeats Imdieke 5-4 160 West Fargo (Cspescieky??) defeats Davidson tech fall 171 Michaelson defeats Vliem 8-5, Matt too good on his feet for Vliem right now, but give Vliem a couple of years 189 Murphy defeats Flynn 4-1 215 Kleeman defeats Silbernagel 3-2 HWT McCleary defeats Bonnet 4-3
LET'S HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS!

Here is my overall view on the state champions if they were to wrestle one another. 103 - Mellmer (A) over Bateman (B) 12-4 112 - Sailer (A) over Lennick (B) 5-4 119 - Johnsrud (B) over Glasser (A) 8-5 125 - Lang (A) over Kerr (B) Pin here 130 - Mellmer (A) over Haugen (B) Pin here 135 - Sebilius (A) over Sinner (B) 5-4 140 - Bastings (A) over Drolic (B) 8-6 145 - Irmen (B) over Mahlum (A) 9-5 152 - Imdyke
(B) over White (A) 7-4 160 - Czapiewski (A) over Davidson (B) 5-3 171 - Michaelson (A) over Vliem (B) 8-2 189 - Murphy (B) over Flynn (A) 7-4 215 - Silbernagel (A) over Kleeman (B) 5-1 275 - Bonnet (A) over McCleary (B) Pin here A wins - 10 matches B wins - 4 matches score: Class A - 39 Class B - 12 I think the score could even be higher for the A if Bastings & Mahlum are healthy.

All respondents:
Interesting match-ups. I would pay to see this. This brings to mind the Rotary Tournament where several Class B Teams competeted this last year. They did a good job and I was impressed. Is it possible for more (perhaps all) of the Class B teams to come to the Rotary Tournament next year? This would be a good thing for their Coaches and School Districts to consider because it would probably not change much as far as costs are concerned. In addition - all of their very talented people could gain valuable experience in what I think would be a tougher Tournament to win. The addition of more Minnesota, Montana and South Dakota teams would also add a little more zing. If not for the next year (most teams are already set for next year) but perhaps the year therafter. What do you think Class B Coaches - Is this possible.

All of you out there i dont think that Seth Murphy would come anywhere close to Brendon Flynn at 189 pounds. Just my oppinion, but Murphy didnt dominate the weight class like Flynn did.

I wrestled both flynn and murphy and i guarentee that murphy would beat flynn. murphy has such great balance( it kinda helps that he is a bull rider). Not to take anything away from flynn but i just think murphy was a better wrestler.

Lang would tech fall Kerr easier than he did Halvorson...and anybody could beat Flynn if they lead their left leg.

Gotta disagree with you on that one Mr. Freeman. Halverson is a very good wrestler who just happened to be in the same class with one of our states all time best wrestlers. It's my opinion that Travis is just heads above the rest. He works year around and is constantly trying to get better. I watched him tear apart a very stacked field down in Rapid City this year. I've heard others say that this weight was weak and I just have to disagree. Halverson, Gabriel (state runner up last year in arguably the states toughest weight class ), Ost, Simburger, and Beach are all quality wrestlers, as are Kerr and Hase. I've been a Hase fan since he was in 7th grade but I can't agree with the statement that he could Tech Jay Halverson. It would be hard for me to beleive he could beat him by more than a couple of points if at all. I think Jay is that good.
Just my opinion.

now this is what kind of stuff belongs on the message board!!!!!!!! Although I didn't get to go to state this year, I always dreamed about what the outcome of the Class A and B champs would look like, had they dualed. They should set something up like that, possibly on the day after state. That would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!
